Plant Conservation Programmes
With Romania, Bulgaria and Luxembourg, Moldova has an integrated
programme of in situ and ex situ conservation Genetic
resources of broadleaved forest tree species in southeastern Europe,
launched in 1997 and coordinated by IPGRI.
A project called "Biodiversity
Conservation in the Lower Dniester Delta Ecosystem” is aimed to
create a National Park and a local Ecological Network, to rehabilitate the
nature and to arrange collaboration, to develop eco- and agro-tourism. The
National Park will be linked with parallel efforts in Ukraine (under the proposed
Azov Black Sea Corridor Biodiversity project) and in Romania. The project
is funded by the Global Environment Facility.
